Over the past 18 months, the support that we have received from family, friends and strangers has been amazing. We wanted to share with you a poem that was written by Treys cousin, Alex Filipowicz, for a book she wrote in school.

Trey
How did one thing turn into
Something so big?
Why did you have to suffer?
You were only a couple of weeks old.
First with a tiny liver problem,
Then surgery after surgery, and a transplant.
Things just kept getting worse for you.
Did you ever want to give up?
It had to be hard,
Fighting for your life.
Things went downhill for awhile.
How much longer?

Now you are 13 months old,
And doing great.
Do you know how much
Everyone suffered?
Tears,
Frightful moments,
And angers.
But we were not
Fighting for our lives.
You are my little cousin,
But you are my hero!

About a year ago, Jackie and I were contacted by a lady that was interested in writing an article for publication in the UNOS “Update” about Trey and Christa. The UNOS “Update” (United Network for Organ Sharing) is an industry publication that serves to educate people about issues related to organ and tissue donation. The magazine comes out every two months and Trey and Christas article appeared in the March/April issue.
